In1998, Resorts of the Canadian Rockies invested over $5 million in improvements to the Fernie Alpine Resort including the construction of three quad chairlifts, the Timber Bowl, White Pass and Great Bear Express High Speed Quad. This has added over 1,500 acres of superlative terrain, increasing the lift capacity to 12,300 per hour and the number of defined trails to 107.

In the last 5 years over 400 new accommodation units have been built with further Resort upgrades anticipated over the next two years. Fernie is being re-created as an idyllic all-seasons resort that offers the very best in mountain living. Superb ski-in, ski-out accommodation includes a variety of hotels, bed and breakfasts and tastefully appointed condos.

Fernie Alpine Resort offers a variety of summer adventure activities such as hiking, mountain biking, camping, horseback trail rides, river rafting, fly fishing, dog carting and kids summer camps. Other amenities on-mountain include Kelsey's Restaurant & Bar, Mean Bean Coffee Shop, Mountain pantry Grocery Store, Mountain Edge Retail, Rental & Repair Shop, and much more.
